Wolfgang Sobotka, Speaker of the National Council of the Republic of Austria, will visit Chisinau. This is the first visit to the Republic of Moldova of the President of the Austrian Parliament in 31 years after establishing Moldovan-Austrian diplomatic relations.
On Tuesday, May 16, the Austrian speaker will meet with the country’s leadership – President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu, Speaker of the Parliament Igor Grosu, and Prime Minister Dorin Recean. In parliament, the Austrian official will also meet with the Vice-Chairman of the Commission for Foreign Policy and European Integration Ion Groza, and members of the Friendship Group with the Republic of Austria.
The program of the official visit includes meetings with Deputy Prime Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu, and Minister of Agriculture Vladimir Bolea, as well as with representatives of the Jewish community of our country and with the Concordia Foundation in Chisinau.
“During the official visit, topical issues will be discussed, including the possibilities of intensifying cooperation between our country and the Republic of Austria, the security situation in the region, and the European path of the Republic of Moldova.”
