The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova will host the Conference of the Presidents of the Europe Region of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie (APF) at the beginning of the week.
From 17 to 21 March, parliamentarians from around 20 European countries will visit the Republic of Moldova to discuss cooperation in the French-speaking world.
” At the beginning of the conference, the participants will be addressed by Jean-Charles Luperto, APF Regional Delegate for Europe, Doina Gherman, Vice-President of the Parliament, and Prime Minister Dorin Recean. Marcela Adam, the President of the Moldovan section of the APF, will present a report on the current state and presence of Francophonie in Moldova. Aneta Gonta, the Vice-President of the Audiovisual Council and President of the Moldovan section of the Union of Francophone Press will discuss the fight against disinformation. Bruno Fuchs, Jean-Michel De Waele, professor in Brussels, and Vincent Couronne, professor at the Sorbonne University, will talk about political developments in the French-speaking world, the impact of the war in Ukraine and how the EU reacts to foreign interference,” Parliament’s press release states.
The seminar to strengthen parliamentarians’ capacities in the fight against disinformation and fake news will precede the APF Europe Regional Presidents’ Conference. Parliamentarians from French-speaking European countries, as well as deputies and officials from the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, will take part in the discussions. The discussions will centre on the phenomenon of disinformation in the French-speaking world, with a particular focus on the Republic of Moldova, and the impact of fake news on parliamentary activity.
The Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie delegation is scheduled to visit several locations in Moldova, including the French Alliance of Moldova, the University Agency of La Francophonie, the Social Centre for Children, and the “Vent d’Est” eco-pension in the village of Horodiste, Rezina district.
