“The count is no longer even days, but hours.” Krasnoselsky accuses Chisinau of changing the essence of European aid

The Transnistrian leader Vadim Krasnoselsky accuses Chisinau of trying to completely change the essence and direction of the aid offered to the region by the European Union. After the meeting of experts from both banks of the Nistru, Krasnoselsky called on the European Commission to distribute the resources for the left and right banks separately, IPN reports.

According to Vadim Krasnoselsky, the state secretary of the Ministry of Energy Constantin Borosan said that the offered European assistance does not provide for the supply of gas for using it in the production of electricity for the Transnistrian region.

“In other words, according to Borosan, we cannot use the non-reimbursable funds to generate electricity with our own production resources. Instead, we are offered to be supplied with electricity from unclear sources and in unspecified ways. During this discussion, the Moldovan side did not specify the volumes of gas that will be delivered to the Transnistrian region, within the European humanitarian project,” said the leader of the Transnistrian administration.

According to Krasnoselsky, Chisinau’s position runs counter to the statements issued by the European Commission, which clearly mention the financing of the purchase and transportation of natural gas in order to restore the supply of heat and electricity in the Transnistrian region.

Vadim Krasnoselsky addressed the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and the head of the EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova Janis Mazeiks, specifying that Tiraspol gratefully welcomed the news that the European community is ready to help overcome the energy crisis.

The Transnistrian leader says that the people need electricity and heat and urges the European officials not to allow the official Chisinau to distort their humanitarian initiative. “Take measures to put it into practice – to provide the Transnistrian region with emergency assistance, as you called it. We no longer time the days, but the hours. We will be grateful if the heat and electricity reach the citizens of the region within the timeframe you indicated,” stated Krasnoselsky.

After the meeting of experts, the Bureau for Reintegration Policies announced that the energy experts from both banks of the Nistru discussed possible ways of delivering energy resources to the Transnistrian region. After the meeting, the Moldovan authorities did not announce any agreed decision, but said that the dialogue on technical aspects will continue in the format of specialists of electricity companies.
