The European Union has imposed restrictive measures against seven individuals and three entities for actions that undermine the sovereignty, independence, democracy, the rule of law, and stability of the Republic of Moldova.
According to the EU, those sanctioned are either closely associated with fugitive oligarch Ilan Shor or are members of political groups that promote violence and destabilization.
The updated sanctions list includes:
- Alexandru Beschieru, leader of Forta de Alternativa si Salvare a Moldovei (Alternative and Salvation Force of Moldova)
- Victoria Furtuna, founder of the Moldova Mare (Great Moldova) party
- Vadim Grozavu, leader of the Victorie (Victory) party
- Alexei Lungu, head of the Sansa (Chance) party
- Irina Lozovan and Alexandr Nesterovschi, former deputies, are currently missing
- Natalia Parasca, leader of the Renastere (Renaissance) party

Also sanctioned are:
- The “Victorie – Pobeda” political bloc, reportedly controlled by Ilan Shor
- Two Moscow-based organizations:
- A7, a company accused of attempting to interfere in Moldova’s 2024 presidential election and EU accession referendum
- The Cultural-Educational Center of Moldova
With this update, the EU’s Moldova-related sanctions list now includes 23 individuals and five entities.
Restrictions Imposed
The measures include:
- Asset freezes
- Travel bans within the EU
- Prohibition for EU citizens and companies to provide funds, economic resources, or services to the sanctioned individuals and entities
The EU Stance
European officials reiterated that these sanctions are part of the EU’s ongoing commitment to support Moldova’s democratic institutions and European path. They aim to counter hybrid threats and foreign interference, particularly from actors seeking to destabilize the country ahead of key elections.
