The Final Day of Electoral Campaigning Before Sunday’s General Local Elections

Friday, November 3rd, is the last day for accepting electoral campaigning actions for the upcoming general local elections, which will take place this Sunday, November 5th, as warned by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC).

The institution reminds us that, according to the Electoral Code, electoral campaigning is strictly prohibited on the day of the elections and the day preceding them.

During this period, the appearance of election candidates on television or radio shows is not allowed. Additionally, local public administration and advertising broadcasters are obligated to remove electoral advertising materials, with the exception of information already placed on the Internet.

Moreover, electoral competitors cannot make transactions to/from the account labeled as the “Electoral Fund.”

Individuals who do not adhere to the respective provisions of the legislation risk fines ranging from 2,000 to 3,000 lei (approx. 103Є – 155), while legal entities may face fines between 5,000 and 7,500 lei (approx. 260Є – 388Є).
