The first specialized public center for the treatment of autism spectrum disorders in children will be created in Moldova. It will start functioning on September 1, 2024.
According to Health Minister Alla Nemerenco, the center will work as a subdivision of the Republican Children’s Rehabilitation Center. It will be equipped with all the necessary resources to provide free assistance to children with this disease. Teams of professionals will provide assessment and individual intervention programs, behavioral therapy, counseling, support for social and educational integration, and free psychological counseling for family members.
“In this regard, together with President Maia Sandu, we visited the Republican Children’s Rehabilitation Center, where children with various pathologies, including autism spectrum disorders, are treated. We want children with autism to have a happy childhood, to be fully integrated into social life, and for this purpose, we have to give them all our support,” the minister said.
