Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mihai Popsoi, held a meeting with Thomas Mayr-Harting, the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transnistrian Settlement Process, who was on a working visit to Moldova.
The discussions centered around the forthcoming visit to Moldova by Ian Borg, the Foreign Affairs Minister of Malta and the current Chairperson-in-Office of the OSCE. Additionally, the officials reviewed recent developments concerning the Transnistrian issue, particularly focusing on the gradual integration of economic entities from the region into Moldova’s national legal framework. They also discussed Moldova’s European integration process and the overall regional security context.
During the meeting, both parties expressed concerns about the deteriorating human rights situation in Moldova’s eastern districts and the reported instances of abusive persecution by Tiraspol authorities. Minister Popsoi reiterated the call for the OSCE Mission in Moldova to play an active role in facilitating tangible progress in addressing these concerns.
