The residents of Grenoble, France, will soon have a square named “Chisinau.” Mayor Éric Piolle announced that a local square will be named after the capital of Moldova.
Deputy Mayor Ilie Ceban revealed the news during a Moldovan-French forum in Grenoble. He mentioned that the event focused on organizing public services more efficiently.

“We also discussed improving the environmental climate, the role of local officials in strengthening democracy, and ways to enhance cooperation between local and central authorities,” Ceban stated.
Among the participants in the meeting were the Secretary General of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, representatives from the Congress of Local Authorities of Moldova and the Association of Communes of Romania, as well as officials from the United Nations Development Program, French diplomats, and ambassadors.
