The Ministry of Health and WHO have signed the biennial collaboration agreement. What is it about?


The Minister of Health, Ala Nemerenco, and the Director of the Regional Office of the World Health Organization (WHO) for Europe, Dr. Hans Henri P. Kluge, have signed the biennial collaboration agreement for the years 2024-2025.

The document aims to support the Republic of Moldova in promoting universal access to quality healthcare.

The strategic priorities of the agreement include: strengthening primary and hospital care, patient-centered, including refugees; fortifying the public health system for preparedness and response in emergency situations; cooperation for effective preparedness against pandemics; prevention and control of communicable and non-communicable diseases; protection and promotion of health; development of national capacities for the implementation and maintenance of digital health solutions; implementation of efficient and transparent procurement systems for medicines and medical devices; efficiency in the use of public funds in the health sector to ensure financial sustainability and strengthening of human resources capacities in health, their planning, and retention.

To achieve these objectives, the WHO will support our country in implementing the National Strategy “Health 2030,” approved in June 2023, and existing National Programs. In this regard, the WHO will provide assistance to the Ministry of Health and will procure the necessary medical equipment and consumables.

The initial budget of the biennial collaboration agreement is three million dollars, provided by the WHO.
