During an official visit to the Republic of Moldova, the Dutch Foreign Minister, Wopke Hoekstra, announced that the Netherlands will provide financial assistance to help Moldova identify drones. The Dutch government is supporting Moldova’s efforts to strengthen its resistance against Russian hybrid threats and firmly supports sovereignty and territorial integrity. Hoekstra stated that additional funds will be allocated to enhance the capabilities needed in the coming years to detect malicious drones.
The Dutch official’s visit to Chisinau coincided with the inauguration of the Dutch diplomatic mission in Moldova. Moldova’s Vice Prime Minister, Nicu Popescu, welcomed the move, saying it would strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
During a joint press conference, Popescu also announced that the Moldovan administration will submit a 1000-page report on Wednesday detailing the progress made towards beginning negotiations for EU membership.
