The Public Services Agency announces that during 2022, in the context of the events in Ukraine, a significant increase in the number of applicants for citizenship of the Republic of Moldova has been witnessed.
According to data from the State Population Register, compared to 2021, in 2022 the number of applications for citizenship of the Republic of Moldova increased from 7168 to 10799.
Under these conditions, it was decided that citizens should have the opportunity to apply for the acquisition and reacquisition of citizenship of the Republic of Moldova at all multifunctional centers in the country and in Chisinau. Previously, as regards the municipality of Chisinau, applications could only be submitted to the Citizenship Section of the Public Services Agency (Str. Pușkin, 42).

Thus, starting on January 3, 2023, the multifunctional centers in the municipality of Chisinau (no. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5) will provide the full spectrum of citizenship services, namely, they will receive applications for:
- acquiring the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova through recognition;
- acquiring the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova through naturalization;
- regaining the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova;
- the repeal of the Decree or a part of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Moldova regarding the approval of the renunciation of the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova;
- approval of the renunciation of the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova;
- determination of citizenship of the Republic of Moldova;
- issuance of the certificate regarding the belonging or non-belonging of persons to the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova.
