The OSCE Chairman-in-Office specified under which conditions the Law of Separatism must NOT enter into force

The amendments made to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Moldova regarding the regulation of the phenomenon of separatism were discussed, today, by the acting President of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia, Bujar Osmani and the leader from Tiraspol Vadim Krasnoselski.

According to the media on the left of the Dniester, the head of the OSCE mission declared that the so-called “law of separatism” should not enter into force, if it can negatively influence the negotiations between Chisinau and Tiraspol.

“We discussed the subject at the meetings we had today in Chisinau. I said clearly, that we understand the concerns of Chisinau regarding the security of the country, however, such legislation must not come into force, if it can have a negative impact on the negotiation process”, declared Osmani.

The Chisinau Reintegration Office announced today that this topic was discussed today by the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian and Bujar Osmani.

“Regarding the amendments made to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Moldova regarding the regulation of the phenomenon of separatism, it was specified that these provisions have no connection with the negotiation process that will continue, being reminded that such crimes are criminalized in the legislation of many European states as measures of protection and prevention of damage to state security, territorial integrity and their sovereignty”, the press release of the Office states.
