A pre-election mission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) is in Moldova from September 16 to 19 to assess the election campaign and the political climate in the country ahead of the presidential election and the constitutional referendum.
The delegation members will reportedly meet with Moldovan President Maia Sandu, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, and Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gerasimov. The visit’s agenda includes discussions with National Integrity Authority Chairman Lilian Kiska, TV and Radio Council Chairwoman Liliana Vitsu, and members of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC).
In addition, the delegation of the PACE election mission has scheduled meetings with significant presidential candidates and leaders of political parties, representatives of non-governmental organizations involved in election observation, and the media.

The PACE election mission, headed by Thorhildur Sunna Evarsdottir (Iceland), also included Chris Said (Malta), Valentina Grippo (Italy), Laura Castel (Spain), as well as co-rapporteurs for the fulfillment of Moldova’s commitments, Pierre-Alain Friede (Switzerland) and Zanda Kalninja-Lukashevica (Latvia).
The Constitutional Republican Referendum and the election of the President of Moldova will take place on October 20, 2024.
