Petru Rotaru became the First Vice Governor of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) on February 6, while Mihnea Constantinescu assumed the role of Vice Governor. Most MPs present at the meeting voted for both candidates.
Rotaru will serve a seven-year term as First Vice Governor, Vice President of the Supervisory Board, and a member of the Executive Committee at the NBM. He currently holds the position of Vice Governor and previously served as Minister of Finance, Director of the State Fiscal Service, and a member of the Court of Accounts.
Constantinescu will also serve a seven-year term as Vice Governor and a member of the Executive Committee. He currently advises the Governor of the NBM, Anca-Dana Dragu. From 2019 to 2024, he led research at the National Bank of Ukraine, and from 2014 to 2018, he held the same role at the Bank of Lithuania. He has also taught and conducted research at universities in Amsterdam, Zurich, and New York.

The NBM operates under a Supervisory Board, which consists of seven members (three executives and four independents), and an Executive Committee, which includes five members. The Parliament appoints the First Vice Governors and Governors of the NBM based on the Governor’s proposal.
