Maia Sandu condemned the Russian attacks on Ukraine during the night of May 14, in which one person died and dozens of others were injured, including a child. She described the strike as one of the most intense so far and said that 1,560 drones were launched in a single night and that Moldova’s airspace was also violated.

On the social network X, Maia Sandu wrote that the airspace of the Republic of Moldova was violated. She stated that Russia is not seeking to end the war and continues its chain of crimes, and she called for continued pressure on Russia.

During the night of May 14, Russian forces launched a combined drone and missile attack on Kyiv, which Ukrainian authorities described as one of the strongest in recent months.

Ukrainian officials reported that explosions occurred across several districts of the city and that the attacks severely damaged civilian infrastructure. At least one person died, and more than 30 others, including a child, were injured.

Vitali Klitschko said the city came under a massive enemy attack and confirmed that emergency teams deployed across multiple affected areas.

In the Darnytskyi district, drone debris caused part of a residential building to collapse, and rescue teams evacuated dozens of residents. Search and rescue operations continued as authorities feared that some people might remain trapped under rubble.

In other parts of the capital, including the Obolon district, Holosiiv district, and Dnipro district, fires and damage affected residential buildings, business centers, parking areas, and vehicles. In one apartment block, drone debris caused a fire on the upper floors.

Timur Tkachenko said the casualty toll continued to rise as emergency teams assessed the situation.

Separately from the attacks on Ukraine, Moldovan authorities also reported another airspace violation on Wednesday. Citizens observed and filmed a drone in the municipality of Balti and other localities. Following the incident, Moldova temporarily closed its airspace.
