Tiraspol extends state of emergency until March 10

The Tiraspol administration has decided to maintain a state of economic emergency in the Transnistrian region until March 10. In this context, the supply of firewood continues, as does the local production of boilers, in order to meet the needs of individual consumers and businesses on the left bank of the Dniester, IPN reports.

The Tiraspol leader emphasized the importance of diversifying alternative energy sources. According to Vadim Krasnoselski, for the time being, people who have been detained remain in placement centers.

The activity of schools and kindergartens is decided by each administration depending on the temperature in the rooms.

“Currently, 62 educational institutions are open – 35 kindergartens, 23 schools, 4 correctional centers. From Thursday, another 30 schools and 30 kindergartens will receive children,” Vadim Krasnoselski said.

The resumption of activities in the Transnistrian region is determined by the delivery of natural gas on February 1. The European Union has allocated €20m from a larger grant. This money will also be used to keep an MGRES block in operation until February 10.

On Tuesday the European Union announced additional aid for the Transnistrian region worth €60 million. This would cover 70% of the social consumption that the left bank had before the crisis. The assistance is conditional, with Tiraspol having to take certain aspects of the aid.
