The so-called “foreign ministry” in Tiraspol submitted an official request to the authorities in Chisinau demanding the return of more than 28 million dollars. Representatives of the self-proclaimed region claim that companies operating on the left bank of the Dniester River generated the funds through taxes.
Representatives of the separatist administration stated that participants also discussed the issue during a May 5 meeting of the working groups responsible for economic matters. The meeting included the so-called economy minister from the left bank, Serghei Obolonic.
“The Moldovan side was asked about the fate of the money collected from Transnistrian economic entities by Moldova’s customs authorities,” the statement published by the so-called ministry reads.
According to the Transnistrian side, Moldova’s customs authorities have collected a total of 28.1 million dollars since January 1, 2024, reports RUPOR.MD. Representatives of the self-proclaimed authorities therefore addressed Deputy Prime Minister Valeriu Chiveri, requesting information about the funds and demanding their return.
