Top 10 natural destinations in Moldova created by Mother Nature

The fresh green of the grass and blooming trees suggest that summer has fully established itself. And what better way to make the most of it than by traveling through the lands of Moldova? Our country hides wonders that are still unknown to many, and many of them have been created by nature itself.

To help us discover these places, the authors of the book “Footprints of Moldova” have compiled a ranking of natural destinations in the Republic of Moldova.

Here are the destinations:

#10. ÈšigăneÈ™ti Landscape Reserve – ÈšigăneÈ™ti village, Strășeni municipality

Țigănești Landscape Reserve is surrounded by sturdy trees that form a dense forest, accompanied by lakes that reflect the sky. In late autumn, you can witness the dense fog that evokes a sense of a parallel world.

#9. Rogojeni Village Hills – Rogojeni village, FloreÈ™ti district

The hills are located near Rogojeni village, where only about 30 people remain. These beautiful hills are situated in a picturesque location sculpted by the Răut River.

It is probably the tallest and most spectacular cliff in Moldova, located on the banks of the Nistru River.

#7. “Codru” Scientific Reserve – Lozova village, Strășeni municipality

The reserve is considered a true nature museum in the heart of Moldova, preserving the gene pool of Central European forests. It is home to approximately 1,000 plant species, 43 mammal species, 145 bird species, seven reptile species, 10 amphibian species, and over 10,000 insect species. To go on an excursion, you need to obtain permission from the reserve’s administration, located within the reserve’s territory.

#6. Trebujeni Landscape Reserve – Trebujeni village, Orhei municipality

Many people confuse this area with the Old Orhei, which is located in the neighboring village of Butuceni. The Trebujeni Reserve can be found between the villages of Trebujeni and Furceni in the Orhei district.

The Văratic Gorge is considered a true water kingdom in northern Moldova.

It is a geological monument of nature in the Republic of Moldova – a picturesque gorge with a length of 500 meters and a height of 40 meters, bordered by steep and rugged cliffs.

#1. “Lower Prut” Biosphere Reserve – Slobozia Mare village, Cahul municipality

This reserve is a unique ecosystem that stretches from Cahul to Giurgiulești. It is a true ecological laboratory in the Republic of Moldova, hosting a large number of bird, mammal, and fish species. The best time to visit is from May to September, especially when migratory birds return.
