The National Bureau of Statistics has published the rank of companies in the Republic of Moldova, according to the turnover recorded in 2021, writes BANI.MD.
Thus, Moldovagaz ranks first, with a turnover of 6.7 billion lei, almost 50% higher than the previous year. In 2021, the company had losses of 190.8 million lei
Moldovagaz is followed by Agrofloris-Nord, controlled by the grain king Vaja Jhashi, specialized in grain trade. It recorded a turnover of 6 billion lei and losses of 179 million lei. The company’s turnover increased exponentially by more than two times compared to 2020.
Vaja Jhashi controls 70% of the grain market in the Republic of Moldova through the company Trans-Oil, one of the largest agribusiness groups in the Republic of Moldova, and owns the Ultex vegetable oil factory in Tăndărei, Romania (Ialomiţa county), bought with over 10 million euros in 2014.

On the third place is Moldretail Group, the company of millionaire Vasile Dragan, which manages the Linella chain of stores. The registered business amounted to 6 billion lei, 28.2% more compared to 2020, and the profit – 277 million lei, 54.8% more. Vasile Dragan is one of the most prosperous businessmen in the Republic of Moldova. He owns businesses with alcoholic beverages both in Moldova, where he has several wine factories, and in Russia, where he owns the “Igristîe Vina” factory, leader of the sparkling wine market there.
The oil company Lukoil-Moldova, controlled by the Russian group of the same name, had a turnover of 6 billion lei, 37.2% higher. Although the turnover increased, the profit decreased by 40%, to 60.2 million lei.
The top five is completed by Rompetrol Moldova, the Romanian subsidiary of the company with the same name, with a turnover of 4.6 billion lei, 24.3% more. The company’s profit was 9.5 million lei, down 65.4%.
