In the first three months of 2023, the number of tourists in Moldova rose by nearly 20%. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, approximately 44,500 people availed of the services of travel agencies, marking an 18.6% growth compared to the same period last year.
The number of foreigners visiting the Republic of Moldova through travel agencies has shown an impressive growth of 58.2% compared to the previous January-March period. Out of the total 5,100 visitors, the majority (88.9%) were day-trippers who arrived for leisure, recreation, and entertainment purposes.
The largest influx of foreign visitors came from Romania, accounting for 31.8% of the total foreign citizens received in the country. Ukraine followed closely behind with 24.8%, while Italy accounted for 7.8% of the visitors. The United States and Israel each represented 6.4% of the visitors, with France at 5.9%, Germany at 4.9%, and Russia at 4.7%.
