Anca Dragu, without a doubt, decided to come to Chisinau and lead the National Bank of Moldova (NBM). The statement was made on the program “Realitatea te priveste” on Rlive TV. According to her, she agreed to come from Romania to our country to support us in our European journey.
“The decision was easy because it marked an extraordinarily important moment for Moldova. It was the moment when everyone had to make all their efforts, big and small, who could contribute to the country’s European path. It is an extraordinary opportunity. It is an opportunity that we did not dream of a few years ago. We are just at this stage, starting negotiations. We have the prospect of becoming full members of the EU. The EU is a project of peace and prosperity. It is the duty of all of us, all of us who contribute to the realization of this European dream, to contribute. And that is why I am in Chisinau”, said Anca Dragu.
The NBM Governor said the two countries’ banking systems are very similar.

“I was familiar with some aspects of the country’s development. I am learning every day. There are a lot of similarities between the two countries,” the NBM Governor added.
As a reminder, at the end of last year, Anca Dragu was appointed governor of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), chairwoman of the Supervisory Board and the Executive Board for a seven-year term. According to her CV, Anca-Dana Dragu has more than 15 years of experience with the National Bank of Romania and the International Monetary Fund. Anca Dragu previously served as Minister of Public Finance in the Romanian Government. In 2020, she was elected President of the Romanian Senate.
