VIDEO The volcanic eruption in Iceland is seen from the balcony of a Moldovan woman living there: The volcano is like a 5km fissure

A new volcanic eruption began on Monday evening, December 18, 2023, in Iceland, marking the fourth such activity in the last three years, according to the Icelandic Meteorological Institute. This is seen from the balcony of Moldovan Anastasia Cruz, who has lived in the country for many years and is married to an Icelandic national with whom she has a daughter. The Moldovan is followed on Instagram by more than 18,000 users. On this social network, she introduces herself as “your friend from the North Pole.”

The eruption began in an area located a few kilometers northeast of Grindavik shortly after 22:30 GMT.

Anastasia Cruz’s home is so close to the volcano that the balcony view is the eruption. “We’re going outside to see how people are gathering. A few minutes ago, there were no cars. Lava is being blown 150 meters into the air,” she said last night.

Also, last night, a plane due to land was the most tracked plane on Flightradar. There were 8,700 people on board, with Anastasia Cruz’s mother-in-law as a flight attendant. The flight was from Copenhagen to Ireland. Finally, it landed safely.

The next day, the Moldovan came with the latest news. The volcano that erupted in Iceland is in the shape of a crack in the ground, it is nearly 5 kilometers long.

“Good morning, we are fine. The volcano continues to expand. Fortunately, the lava is moving northeast. The town is to the southwest. However, the volume is high. A dike has been built to direct it at least a little. It’s not the intensity. It was at full intensity when it erupted, not the length. Volcanoes in Iceland are in the form of a fissure in the ground, and this one is about 5 kilometers long, to imagine the scale. It’s much bigger and more damaging. Fortunately, it is expected that there will be no physical damage, but material damage will certainly not be avoided,” she shared on her Instagram account.
