Ranking Web of Universities (Webometrics) has released a new list of the best universities worldwide for July 2024, according to Diez.md. This ranking evaluates universities from around the globe, including 24 institutions from the Republic of Moldova.
According to the report, Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy ranks first in the country. It is followed by the Technical University of Moldova, with Moldova State University coming in third.
This ranking also includes Tiraspol State University, which merged with Ion Creanga State Pedagogical University in 2022. This decision followed a government resolution that mandated the reorganization by merging institutions within education, research, and innovation.
The Web of Universities (Webometrics) ranking uses the following indicators: 50% – visibility, which measures how many external links the university’s web domain receives from third parties; 10% – transparency, which counts the total number of citations; and 40% – excellence, which evaluates the quality of scientific articles published in high-impact international journals, ranking in the top 10% most cited within a specific field.

Webometrics is a ranking created by Cybermetrics Lab, a research group within the Higher Council for Scientific Research in Spain, since 2004. The ranking relies on publicly available web data, with results released every January and July.
