Will we be prepared in case of danger? IBRD offers money for Moldovan laboratories

The Republic of Moldova and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) have ratified an agreement to modernize the laboratories of the National Agency for Public Health.

Moldova will receive a grant worth more than €5.6 million. Parliament’s press service reported it. The funds will also support those involved in public health emergency prevention, preparedness, and response. Additionally, Moldova will digitize the national surveillance system.

“The money is earmarked for capital repairs to the buildings and laboratories of the National Public Health Agency, strengthening the national network of laboratories and equipping them with modern equipment. Also, the legislative framework for strengthening the biosafety and biosecurity system will be revised,” the same information note said.

Under the same project, our country will also benefit from a grant of 4.3 million dollars from the World Health Organization (WHO).
