Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski has dismissed Ukraine’s ambassador to Moldova, Marko Shevchenko. Shevchenko had served in the post since early 2020.
On 29 March, the Office of the President published a decree revoking Marko Shevchenko from the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Moldova, according to European Pravda.
The identity of Shevchenko’s successor remains unknown.
Marko Shevchenko began his tenure as Ambassador to Moldova in February 2020. Before him, Ivan Hnatyshyn served as ambassador from 2015. In April 2019, Petro Poroshenko signed the decree for his dismissal.

It is a common diplomatic practice to replace ambassadors after several years in the same country. Rotation is believed to help ambassadors avoid becoming too closely identified with the host country and losing touch with their capital, whose interests they are supposed to represent.
According to the MFA, Marko Shevchenko’s mandate expires in December 2023.
