Up to 20 Moldovans are still waiting for evacuation from Lebanon. Moldovan diplomats are working to repatriate them, and they will return home either through Bucharest or Kyiv.
The head of diplomacy in Chisinau, Mihai Popsoi, made these clarifications before the start of the Government meeting. The minister reported that some of the individuals in question did not want to be evacuated earlier or did not have all their documents in order.
“The situation remains complicated, but the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working to evacuate a new group of citizens. (…) We are looking for the next available route, whether from our friends in Bucharest or Kyiv, or anywhere else, they will be evacuated,” Popsoi concluded.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova reports that at the start of 2024, 54 Moldovan citizens were in Lebanon. Following the escalation of military actions in the Middle East, multiple groups of these nationals were evacuated and returned to Moldova.
