Apple producers from the Republic of Moldova now have free access to India, the world’s largest market. Prime Minister Dorin Recean welcomed this achievement and reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to supporting local producers in enhancing product competitiveness and maintaining a stable business environment.
“Moldova has successfully expanded its export markets for apples. We will continue to stand by our producers to strengthen the competitiveness of Moldovan products and ensure a secure and predictable business environment in these new markets,” said Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
Moldova exported its first containers of apples to India in early 2023, with deliveries taking 40 days.

To enter the Indian market, members of the Moldova Fruct Association exported 340 tons of apples under ANSA’s supervision since 2023.
According to Moldova Fruct Association data, Moldovan producers exported 133,000 tons of apples from the 2023-2024 harvest to over 30 countries. It marks an increase from the 2022-2023 season when exports totaled 124,000 tons. Exports to the EU nearly doubled, reaching 22,000 tons, with Romania accounting for 90% of this volume.
Expanding Moldovan exporters’ access to new markets remains a strategic priority for the Government of the Republic of Moldova.
