The National Beekeeping Forum 2025 took place in Chisinau. The event brought together beekeepers, experts, and decision-makers to identify solutions for the sustainable development sector, announced the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry.
”When we see that 80% of the requests for advance subsidies come from beekeepers, we understand that this sector is dynamic and ready for development. If, in the first ten months of 2023, we exported only 1,300 tons of honey, in 2024, we reached over 3,100 tons,” said the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry.
According to Scripnic, Moldovan honey is gaining trust in foreign markets, and Moldovan beekeepers are becoming increasingly competitive.

”We now have around 265,000 beehives. We are making investments and doing work, which is encouraging. We are looking to improve the BeeProtect platform. At the same time, we are working on an ‘electronic passport’ for beekeeping, a digital document containing all essential information about each hive: location, health status of the bees, treatments applied, and honey production,” said Iurie Scripnic.
The official also emphasized that honey is a valuable food, and students should be familiar with this product.
”In this regard, we are working on a national program to include honey in the school menus for children.”
The forum also discussed modern technologies for improving the efficiency of apiaries, organic certification of beekeeping products, and marketing strategies needed to strengthen the Republic of Moldova’s position in the international market.
