The North Atlantic Alliance is working closely with authorities in Chisinau to support Moldova’s resilience in the face of growing challenges, including foreign influence. Michaela Guerard Simak, Head of NATO’s Liaison Office in Chisinau, made the statement during a press conference dedicated to the outcomes of the Allied Summit held last week in The Hague.
“We are advancing several initiatives related to cybersecurity, protection of national integrity, critical infrastructure, and reinforcing strong social resilience,” Simak said.
She emphasized that NATO member states are stepping up their assistance so Moldova can counter “increasingly severe” hybrid threats from Russia.

Simak also highlighted the professional development program for public service, launched jointly by Chisinau and the Alliance, as a key initiative. The program brings together civil servants to find solutions to potential crises, pressures, and interference, including possible disruptions to the parliamentary elections scheduled for September 28.
Simak reaffirmed NATO’s intention to deepen political dialogue and cooperation with Chisinau while respecting Moldova’s constitutional neutrality. According to her, the Alliance aims to strengthen national resilience, civil preparedness, institutional modernization, and Moldova’s European integration efforts.
She also acknowledged Moldova’s role in enhancing regional security, citing its participation in the Kosovo peacekeeping mission (KFOR).
