Money transfers to the Republic of Moldova declined in November 2025 compared to the previous month, but they remained above the level recorded in the same period last year, according to data published by the National Bank of Moldova, bani.md.

Net transfers totaled USD 136.3 million in November, down from USD 152.1 million in October. Compared to November 2024, when net remittances reached USD 128.6 million, the figure still shows an annual increase of about 6 percent.

A decrease in transfers through the banking system mainly caused the monthly decline, Bani.md reports. Net remittances sent through banks fell to USD 79.7 million, compared to USD 89.8 million in October. Despite the drop, this volume remains higher than in November 2024, when bank transfers amounted to USD 86.4 million.

In gross terms, money transfers reached USD 144.0 million in November 2025, compared to USD 157.8 million in October. Transfers through the banking system totaled USD 87.5 million, down from USD 95.4 million in the previous month.

The currency structure shows a continued strong reliance on the euro. The euro accounted for 80 percent of gross bank transfers in November 2025, followed by the US dollar at 9.5 percent, while transfers in Moldovan lei made up 10.5 percent. Transfers in Russian rubles were almost nonexistent.

Data for the first 11 months of the year show a more positive trend. Between January and November 2025, net transfers exceeded USD 1.45 billion, surpassing the level recorded in the same period of 2024. This trend confirms the importance of remittances as a key source of foreign currency for the economy, despite monthly volatility and seasonal declines in autumn.

Statistics also show that around one million Moldovan citizens currently work abroad.
