Abilitare.md is the first platform in Moldova dedicated to parents and caregivers of children with disabilities, launched by the Prietena Mea Association in partnership with UNICEF.
The platform provides articles by psychologists and psychotherapists to support accepting disabilities, becoming a vital resource for those seeking relevant information and emotional support.
“The Abilitare.md platform was developed based on a study involving over 900 parents and caregivers to identify the daily needs and challenges they face,” the launch statement reads.
Alexei Buzu, Minister of Labor and Social Protection, attended the launch event.
“Abilitare.md represents a concrete example of creating a support system for families with children with disabilities. The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection remains committed to collaborating on policies that ensure inclusion and equal opportunities for all children,” Minister Buzu emphasized.

The platform supports parents and specialists working with children with disabilities, with an expanded focus on education. In collaboration with the Ministry of Education and UNICEF Moldova, it is developing the first parenting program for parents of children with disabilities, with the involvement of 30 support teachers.
To further these efforts and ensure sustainability, Abilitare.md will offer guides and specialized courses for parents, addressing how to manage their children’s specific needs and tackle societal challenges such as discrimination and stigmatization.
Ludmila Adamciuc, founder of the Prietena Mea Association and host of the event, highlighted the significance of this initiative:
“Our work has shown how important it is to provide support and respond to the real needs of parents. That’s why Abilitare.md serves as an essential resource accessible with a single click from anywhere in the country. We believe in the power of community and hope this platform will inspire change, bring people together, and contribute to building a more inclusive and empathetic society,” said Ludmila.
The Abilitare.md platform is part of UNICEF’s project “An Inclusive World Begins with Me, You, Us…” implemented by the Prietena Mea Association, with financial support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development through the German Development Bank.
