Belgium Inaugurates Embassy in Chișinău, Promising Mutual Benefits

Belgium is opening its embassy in the Republic of Moldova. The announcement was made during a press conference held by the Minister of Foreign Affairs from Chișinău, along with the Belgian Foreign Minister, Hadja Lahbib.

Popescu mentioned that in the first half of next year, Belgium will hold the presidency of the EU. According to him, alongside Brussels, Chișinău will take concrete steps to become a member state of the European Union.

“The opening of the Belgian embassy will allow us to accelerate our economic partnership, which will bring benefits to the citizens of both of our countries,” stated Popescu.

In turn, the Belgian official revealed that she has already had the chance to see Chișinău and hopes to taste traditional Moldovan dishes. She reiterated that Belgium is the 14th largest investor in Moldova and mentioned her hope for more Belgian companies in our country.

“The embassy’s opening will mark a new significant stage in our bilateral relations,” said Hadja Lahbib.
