The Border Police employee, accused of conspiracy and espionage on behalf of Russia, has been detained for 30 days. The magistrates of the Chisinau Court, Ciocana branch, issued the decision on Friday, August 2.
At the request of the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (POCOCSC), the Border Police official accused of plotting against Moldova has been placed in preventive detention for 30 days to allow for a thorough continuation of the investigation. The decisions, concerning the Legislative employee, were pronounced in the absence of the accused due to health reasons, according to POCOCSC.
We note that the Ciocana magistrates placed Ion Creanga, the head of the Parliament’s Legal Department, in custody for 30 days after accusing him of treason.
On Wednesday, July 31, the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (POCOCSC) and the Security and Intelligence Service (SIS) detained two officials, one from Parliament and one from the Border Police. Authorities suspect them of treason and conspiracy against the Republic of Moldova. Specifically, they allegedly shared various pieces of information with Dmitri Kelov, an employee of the Russian Embassy in Chisinau, to undermine our national interests.

Chisinau has declared Dmitri Kelov, the Russian Embassy employee, persona non grata. Journalists report that Kelov, an officer of the Russian Federation’s Intelligence Department, has been accredited in Chisinau since August 2021. Authorities require him to leave Moldova in the coming days. Oleg Vasnetsov, the head of the diplomatic mission, stated that the investigation is ongoing, and Moscow will respond appropriately after the expulsion of the alleged diplomat.
