The 680,147 families, comprising 1,300,000 individuals, received energy compensation for December 2024. The government allocated 495 million lei to support these households.
Minister of Labour and Social Protection Alexei Buzu stated that payments for December became available starting January 10, either at post offices or directly on personal cards, depending on the beneficiary’s selected option.
The average compensation for December was 727 lei. “We ensure that for all beneficiaries, the post-compensation tariff remains lower than last year’s rate,” Alexei Buzu emphasized.
He added, “I thank citizens for their patience, understanding, and solidarity in saving energy. Together, with care for one another, we will successfully overcome this winter.”
For the third consecutive year, the government has assisted vulnerable households through the “Assistance at Meter” program. This program provides compensation to households that heat their homes using natural gas, thermal energy, electricity, or solid fuels such as wood, coal, pellets, and briquettes. The assistance will be provided during the cold months of November to March.
