From Moscow to Moldovans: Putin’s Letter on “Brotherly Friendship” Published

The Russian Embassy in Moldova published Vladimir Putin’s May 9 letter to Moldovans, in which the Kremlin leader spoke of “brotherly friendship.”

Putin highlighted the defeat of fascism during World War II and urged Moldovans not to fall for provocations.

“Today, it is crucial to firmly resist any attempts to distort our shared history or to incite hatred between Russians and Moldovans. We owe this moral duty to the victorious generation,” he stated.

He wished Moldovan veterans good health and longevity, and extended wishes of happiness and prosperity to all Moldovan citizens.

Before May 9, the Kremlin announced that Vladimir Putin had sent letters to several foreign leaders. In the case of Georgia and Moldova, he addressed the “peoples,” not the presidents, emphasizing their “shared legacy.”
