The President of the Parliament, Igor Grosu, participates in the Conference of the Presidents of the Parliaments of the Member States of the European Union Strategy for the Danube Region. The meeting will take place in Vienna on 18-20 March and will be hosted by the Austrian Parliament, says the Parliament’s Communication and Public Relations Directorate.
Discussions by the Presidents of Parliament will be divided into three panels: security in the Danube region, education for democracy, and the Danube region as a cultural, natural, and scientific area. At the end of the debates, a joint declaration will be adopted.
In the margins of the meeting, the President of the Parliament, Igor Grosu, will meet his counterparts from Austria, Ukraine, Hungary, and Slovenia. Traditionally, Igor Grosu will also meet Moldovans living, studying, or working in Austria.

The parliamentary delegation that will accompany the head of the legislature to the meeting includes the Chair of the Committee on Social Protection, Health and Family Affairs, Chair of the Friendship Group with the Republic of Austria, Adrian Belii; Chair of the Committee on Culture, Education, Research, Youth, Sport and the Media, Liliana Nicolaescu-Onofrei; Vice-Chair of the Committee on Foreign Policy and European Integration, Ion Groza.
The European Union’s strategy for the Danube region aims to develop the economic potential and improve the ecological conditions of the region. It also encourages long-term cooperation between local and regional authorities, and between authorities, the private sector, and NGOs, by generating projects for the region’s development. 14 countries have signed the EU Strategy for the Danube Region.
