Speaker Igor Grosu attended the Conference of Speakers of the European Union, 21-24 April 2024, hosted by La Almudaina Royal Palace in Palma.
“At the meeting, EU parliament speakers, European Parliament leaders and candidate country speakers will discuss common issues. This year’s discussions will focus on two thematic sessions: foreign and defence policy. The first of these will address the topic of Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine and the conflict in the Middle East. The second will consider ways of strengthening the European Union from an economic and social perspective in the context of future enlargement, social rights and environmental and climate change challenges. Once the debates have concluded, the final declaration of the conference will be formally adopted,” informs the Parliament.
In Palma, Grosu has scheduled meetings with his counterparts from several European countries.

The event serves as a forum for the discussion, exchange of views, dissemination of information and sharing of experience on the role and responsibilities of national parliaments in the European structure and on the instruments of inter-parliamentary cooperation in European affairs. Attending the event are speakers from EU member states, the President of the European Parliament and speakers from candidate countries.
