In Moldova, over 110 hectares of land were affected by forest fires in the last 24 hours

Over the past 24 hours, the staff of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (GES) took measures to eliminate dry vegetation fires 30 times.

In total, more than 110 hectares of land in Ialoveni, Soroca, Soldonesti, Cahul, Calarasi, Causeni, Edinet, Ungheni, Cimislia, Telenesti, Singerei, Falesti, Riscani, Stefan-Vodi, Orhei districts, as well as in Gagauzia were covered by fire.

Thus, in the evening of February 22, vegetation caught fire on the outskirts of Pascani village, Criuleni district. The call from the 112 Service was received at 19:05. A team of rescuers and firefighters arrived at the scene. The fire was extinguished at 20:16. Four hectares of dry grass burned.

Firefighters’ intervention was also needed in the village of Cobilnia in Soldanesti district. Here, the fire affected 30 hectares of dry vegetation.

Also, last night, the rescuers extinguished a fire in Pompa village, Falesti district, covering an area of 10 hectares.

In this context, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations asks citizens not to set fire to dry vegetation, household garbage and reeds. In conditions of high temperatures, uncharacteristic for the cold season, low humidity and wind, any spark can cause a large-scale fire.
