Japanese Grant Boosts Medical Capacity and Humanitarian Spirit in Moldova

On Wednesday, the closing ceremony of the “Project for modernization of medical equipment at the Municipal Clinical Hospital “Gheorghe Paladi” in Chisinau” was held, funded by the Government of Japan under the “Kusanone” Program.

The grant of 86,617 USD was used to purchase two surgical lamps, an inhalation anesthesia machine, and a LigaSure device for vascular surgery.

The project aims to strengthen the capacity of the medical institution in performing high-quality minimally invasive surgeries (the “one-day surgery” program), contributing to the reduction of postoperative complications and the length of hospitalization for patients.

Referring to the medical, humanitarian, and psychological support provided to refugees from Ukraine, Ambassador Yamada Yoichiro said that Japan and many other countries have been marked by the best examples of humanity, which Moldova has shown to the world.

The “Kusanone” grant program for human security was launched in Moldova in 2008. To date, Japan has provided non-repayable funding of 6.9 million USD for 82 projects in the fields of education, health, and public utilities.
