Judicial reform and regional security among the topics discussed by Sandu with the President of the Slovenian Parliament

President Maia Sandu discussed bilateral cooperation and Moldova’s accession to the European Union with the President of the Slovenian Parliament. According to a press release from the Presidency, the talks also focused on judicial reform and regional security. Additionally, topics such as the current challenges of the energy crisis, foreign interference, and Moldova’s progress in EU accession preparations were addressed.

“We value Slovenia’s support for our European path and for strengthening democracy in Moldova,” stated President Sandu.

Slovenia, a member of the European Union for two decades, is a strong advocate of the bloc’s enlargement and Moldova’s accession. Slovenia also supports Moldova’s development through initiatives such as empowering women in business and the national reforestation program aimed at significantly expanding the country’s forested areas.

The Slovenian official met on Thursday, January 23, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and on Wednesday, January 22, with Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu. The President of the Slovenian National Assembly pledged to assist Moldova with expertise in the EU accession process.
