“Romania Will Continue to Stand by Moldova with Unprecedented Financial Assistance, Expertise, and Political Support,” stated Romanian President Klaus Iohannis during an event welcoming heads of Romanian diplomatic missions accredited abroad. Iohannis emphasized that Moldova has been affected by the war in Ukraine and reiterated multidimensional support for Ukraine. He also highlighted the priority of initiating accession negotiations with the European Union for both Moldova and Ukraine.
“We will continue to provide comprehensive and multidimensional support to Ukraine as long as it is necessary.”
“Furthermore, we will stand by Moldova, which has been severely affected by the war, through unprecedented financial assistance, expertise, and political support in building an irreversible European path and constructing a safe and prosperous state for all its citizens.”
“The current priority lies in obtaining the political decision to open accession negotiations with the European Union for Moldova and Ukraine.”
“Both countries need to maintain the commitment and firm support of the Union and its member states towards their European future.”
“At the same time, it is our duty, Romania’s duty, to continue being an authentic provider of security and prosperity in the region, turning the Black Sea into a region where peace and prosperity are no longer subject to any threats,” declared Klaus Iohannis.

President Iohannis added that it is Romania’s duty to persist in being an authentic provider of security and prosperity in the region so that the Black Sea becomes a “region where peace and prosperity are no longer subject to any threats,” according to Agerpres.
Iohannis stated that at the Three Seas Initiative (3SI) Summit, to be held on September 6 in Bucharest, the platform’s expansion with a new participating country, Greece, is outlined, as well as granting associated participating country status to Ukraine and Moldova.
“In the geopolitical context created by the war in Ukraine, the Initiative has gained relevance, and I believe it should become an even more important platform in enhancing regional and European resilience. At the September 6 Summit, Romania had several objectives, including reaffirming the role of the Initiative in promoting economic growth and strategic interconnections, strengthening and refining the Initiative’s tools and redefining the Initiative’s relationship with its neighborhood, geopolitically reconfigured. Without anticipating the decisions to be made at the Summit, the expansion of the Initiative with a new participating country, Greece, is outlined, as well as the granting of associated participating country status to Ukraine and Moldova,” said Iohannis.
