The President Maia Sandu, asked the European People’s Party for its support in the process of Moldova’s accession to the European Union. This happened during the party’s Congress in Rotterdam in the context in which the EPP is one of the largest political forces in the European Parliament.
Maia Sandu thanked EPP members for their support of the Republic of Moldova, including calling on the European Commission and the Council to grant Moldova EU candidate status.
“Dear friends, I would like to thank you for your support of the Republic of Moldova in these difficult times, including your vote in the European Parliament to call on the European Commission and the Council to grant Moldova the status of EU candidate country. We understand that politically difficult decisions have to be made at EU level. In this regard, we once again rely on the European People’s Party, our political family, to support our request for candidate status. Now, more than ever, we must work together to strengthen the resilience of our region and restore peace, giving countries like Moldova a credible path to EU membership. It is said that the family is always first and foremost, and I am confident that Moldova can once again count on the EPP to meet the current challenges, but also to help us open the doors to the European Union. We are really stronger together “, is the message sent by the head of the Republic of Moldova at the EPP Congress in which she was invited to participate.
