Maia Sandu talks about reforms and cooperation with the Council of Europe with the Secretary-General

The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, met with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe (CoE), Marija Pejčinović Burić. The discussion focused on cooperation with the CoE, which for almost three decades has been a solid partner in the process of reforming and democratizing our country.

The head of state emphasized that, despite the challenges brought by the war, the authorities continue the actions of rooting out corruption and reforming the justice system. According to President Maia Sandu, these reforms are part of the country’s European agenda, but also a commitment to the citizens, to build a just society and a resilient economy, which provides people with security.

Maia Sandu appreciated the support of the Council of Europe for the promotion of human rights and democratic values, the rule of law, and media freedom.
