Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mihai Popsoi, met with the Moldovan diaspora in Japan. What did they discuss

Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popsoi met in Tokyo with a group of Moldovan citizens working and living in Japan. The official praised how Moldovans remain connected to the realities of the Republic of Moldova and closely follow events back home, even though they are separated by thousands of kilometers.

“We had an open discussion about their life in Japan, the transformations in Moldova, and the actions necessary for a stronger economy and a more resilient state. I was once again convinced that no matter their field—whether students, teachers, researchers, IT specialists, or creative industries professionals—our compatriots know how to integrate, assert themselves professionally, and gain the respect of their host countries’ communities,” said Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi.

The meeting also addressed the issue of validating the referendum on joining the European Union.

“A Moldovan woman who voted in the referendum at our embassy in Japan, Ludmila Vizdoaga, set an excellent example of civic behavior, traveling 1,300 km from South Korea, where she resides, to fulfill her duty as a citizen. I thank Ms. Vizdoaga and all our citizens for their exceptional civic spirit,” the minister stated during the meeting.

Vice Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi was in Japan for a working visit on November 12-13. His agenda included meetings with leaders of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group, and representatives of the Japan Association of Corporate Executives Keizai Doyukai.
