Vice Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, urges Moldovan ambassadors to engage in active political dialogue with European Union member states, including to ensure support for advancing the EU accession process, as reported by IPN.
“By building and strengthening these partnerships, we will continue to work towards ensuring peace, security, and prosperity for our country and region, ultimately becoming a full-fledged member of the EU,” stated the Vice Prime Minister during the diplomatic meeting in ChiÈ™inău, attended by 40 mission chiefs.
During the meeting, the results of the past year were evaluated, and new tasks were outlined across four dimensions: European development, dialogue, diaspora, and economic diplomacy.
“We have obtained candidate country status for EU accession. In this context, our next major objective is to fulfill the nine recommendations put forth by the European Commission, so that by the end of this year, in the enlargement report, the initiation of negotiations for Moldova’s accession to the European Union will be recommended. Maintaining the support of each EU member state is important,” noted Nicu Popescu.
He emphasized the importance of deepening the strategic partnership with Romania and supporting the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders. “Additionally, we will promote dialogue with strategic partners, including by opening a new embassy in India, and we will strengthen cooperation with international organizations such as NATO, CoE, UN, and OSCE. We will enhance our strategic partnership with the United States, including by reinforcing political dialogue and cooperation within international organizations. Intensive and ongoing dialogue with our partners has enabled the sanctioning of individuals who undermined the rule of law and stole from our citizens,” mentioned the Foreign Minister.

An objective set for Moldovan ambassadors is to accelerate negotiations and conclude agreements for driver’s license conversion, social agreements, and reducing roaming charges. Additionally, it’s important for Moldovan embassies to adopt a proactive approach in planning and implementing cultural events for our diaspora community.
The Vice Prime Minister also highlighted that a key direction is the promotion of agricultural products and Moldovan wines, with a focus on increasing exports, identifying new markets for trade, and attracting foreign investments to the Republic of Moldova.
