Moldova State University will host polling stations for the Romanian presidential and parliamentary elections in November-December 2024. According to Rector Igor Sarov, the higher education institution he leads supports the participation of Romanian citizens in the electoral process.
On Wednesday, September 18, during a meeting between the Rector of the Moldova State University, Igor Sarov, and the Romanian Consul General in Chisinau, Mausela Pitigoi, and the Deputy Consul, Adrian-Nicolae Georgescu discussed organizational details.
The Rector of the Moldova State University stated that the university administration will ensure the smooth conduct of the elections. He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to the community and democracy, highlighting that this effort reflects close collaboration and dedication to civic engagement, facilitating Romanian citizens’ participation in the electoral process.
Igor Sarov thanked the official from Bucharest for the support provided by the Romanian state to the Moldova State University through numerous development and research projects, which benefit both students and faculty.

The presidential elections in Romania will take place on November 24 (first round) and December 8, 2024 (second round). These will be the first post-December 1989 presidential elections held in the same year as parliamentary and local elections since 2004. Also, in 2024, the European Parliament elections will be held, marking the first time all four types of elections occur in the same year. President Klaus Iohannis’s term and the terms of Romanian deputies will end.
