Muresan: The European Union may increase the budget for Moldova by 61 million euros next year

The European Union budget for next year could be increased by €61 million. These allocations would be earmarked for the Eastern Neighborhood, in particular Moldova. The European Parliament’s chief negotiator for the EU’s next multi-annual budget, Siegfried Muresan, made the announcement.

The MEP said that he has already submitted an amendment to the draft EU budget.

“The Republic of Moldova is an EU candidate state, and we must support its modernization and reform efforts throughout the accession process. At the same time, the Republic of Moldova faces constant security threats from the Russian Federation. So, this is why we need to ensure that Moldova and the entire Eastern Neighborhood receive adequate support to combat these threats. Because our security within the European Union depends on how secure the countries in our neighborhood are,” Muresan said.
