Parliamentary and Presidential Elections in Romania: Required Documents for Moldovans with Citizenship Who Want to Vote

The presidential and parliamentary elections in Romania will take place at the end of November and the beginning of December. Approximately one million people from the Republic of Moldova holding Romanian citizenship are expected to vote.
To exercise their right to vote for the Romanian parliamentarians, senators, and president, Romanian citizens residing in the Republic of Moldova have to present a regular passport, temporary regular passport, or electronic regular passport, indicating their country of residence.

Voters residing in the Republic of Moldova will vote based on a Romanian identity document and a document proving their legal right to stay outside Romania for more than 90 days. Accepted documents include the identity card (including electronic or provisional), diplomatic or service passport (including electronic), or regular passport.

According to Romanian legislation, domicile refers to where a person has their residence. Residence refers to where a person has a secondary address, such as students staying in dormitories or some individuals living with hosts.
In the Republic of Moldova, Romanian citizens are expected to vote for the president of Romania from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM on November 22, and from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM on November 23 and 24. For Romania’s parliamentary elections, voting stations in the Republic of Moldova will operate from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM on November 30 and December 1.
