Between April 8–11, 2025, representatives of Chambers of Commerce from over 40 countries, including the Republic of Moldova, gathered in Berlin for the sessions of the World Council on ATA Carnets and Certificates of Origin, held under the auspices of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). The event provided a platform to discuss the latest trends and initiatives related to key documents that support international trade.
Natalia Calenic, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova (CCI of RM), also happened in the Council sessions and presented the current situation in Moldova, highlighting the progress made in the digitalization of services offered by the CCI of RM.
“Participants highly appreciated the impact of the international seminar ‘eATA: Digitalization of ATA Carnets as a Trade Facilitation Tool’ organized by the CCI of RM in February 2025 in Chisinau. The event brought together Chambers of Commerce from Eastern Partnership countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, and the Republic of Moldova), from the European Union (Latvia, Romania, Slovenia), and customs authorities and business representatives.

During the session, experts from the World Chambers Federation — the organization that manages the global ATA Carnet system — introduced the digital ATA Carnet (e-ATA). They also presented the global transition plan and demonstrated the digital tools used to issue, validate, and monitor these documents electronically,” the official statement reads.
The Berlin discussions gave fresh momentum to the acceleration of digital systems. Experts exchanged best practices and reviewed the ICC’s recommendations for harmonizing international procedures for issuing certificates of origin and using e-ATA carnets electronically to help streamline trade flows and boost administrative efficiency.
