The National Agency for Food Safety (NAFS) signed a cooperation agreement with the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment on Tuesday, July 8, marking the first official partnership between the two institutions. The agreement lays the foundation for collaboration in critical areas: risk assessment and risk communication.
The German institute, one of the European Union’s leading authorities in the field, plays a central role in advancing consumer health protection and food safety.
“Risk assessment is a key component of food safety. It enables us to identify, evaluate, and manage potential biological, chemical, or physical hazards that could harm human health,” said the NAFS Director General, Radu Musteata. He emphasized that the agreement with one of Europe’s most advanced institutions in this field marks a new chapter in the NAFS’s collaboration with German partners.
